Something to Look Forward to…

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the cold weather that we have been experiencing in Lancaster County lately. As I sit in my office at Kitchen Kettle, the sun is shining and the temperature is supposed to reach above the freezing mark. That alone is reason to celebrate!

At this cold time of the year I am always looking ahead to something fun. Here at Kitchen Kettle I am busy planning upcoming events for the year. This is very exciting for me. So I thought I would share some of my plans to possibly give you something to look forward to…when the weather warms up!

First on my list is a new event; Yummie’s Giant Easter Egg Hunt. The event is scheduled for the Saturday before Easter, April 11th. The day kicks off at 9am with a special breakfast with Yummie & the Easter Bunny in the Kettle Café. Children will receive a special visit from the Easter Bunny, along with an Easter Basket (for the egg hunt that happens later) and a great breakfast. At 10:30am the egg hunt starts with Yummie & the Easter Bunny leading the charge. In my office sit 2,500 plastic eggs that need filled with candy, special offers, small prizes and more. Needless to say, there will be lots of eggs. I also booked a balloon artist and am looking into a musical group to perform in the Village in the afternoon. I have also reached out to our Village shops and encouraged them to get involved. I am still waiting to hear from them. I will keep you posted on the details as the event gets closer.

Another event to look forward to is the Kitchen Kettle Village 26th Annual Rhubarb Festival. This is my most favorite event of the entire year! Mark your calendar for May 15th and 16th and be ready to have some rollicking rhubarb fun! There is a “Best Rhubarb Dessert in Lancaster County” baking contest, a Rhubarb Stroll (a mini parade featuring musical groups, cheerleaders, costumed characters & the Pink Ladies) and a Rhubarb Race Car Derby – all on Saturday. Both days are filled with musical groups, food samplings and more rhubarb foods that you can shake a stick at! I almost forgot, we also crown a Rhubarb King & Queen from Village employees. It is wacky, fun and delicious all rolled into two delightful days. Can you tell that I am pretty excited?

I hope I gave you something to look forward to, but remember Kitchen Kettle Village is open year round (even when it is cold). Come spend the day, stock up on some jams & relishes, treat yourself to something from the Deerskin Leather Shop and have lunch at The Kling House Restaurant! I hope to see you soon.

A Special Lodging Offer from The Inn at Kitchen Kettle Village

My name is Stephanie and I am the captain of lodging at Kitchen Kettle Village. That means I oversee the staff that runs the Inn. If you know Kitchen Kettle Village, you know that we are very hands on, so I often get the opportunity to interact with our guests.

I read Joanne’s last blog post on lodging and I just wanted to add to it. In the two and a half years that I have been in charge of The Inn at Kitchen Kettle, I have seen many guests come back time and time again. They tell me it feels like visiting family when they come stay with us. Others tell me it is their home away from home. I truly feel our guests are part of the Kitchen Kettle family.

So come and be part of the family…
Stay at the Inn at Kitchen Kettle Village now through March 31, 2009 and receive 20% off a standard room. Weekend fees do apply. Not valid with any other offer. Just mention “talk09″ when you make your room reservation. Call 1-800-732-3538 or visit www.kitchenkettle.com

I hope to see you soon and welcome you to the family!
